Reset. Remember. Revived.

It has been way too long!  I’ve been away because I had a lot of things going on and unfortunately my blog was put on a little hold.

But I’m back!!

Let me tell you. Despite everything going on and life getting busy, I got the greatest gift for Christmas.

After 2 years, I was finally able to visit home! I literally screamed and had the biggest smile on my face as I clicked, clicked, clicked to purchase my plane ticket.

It was a very short trip, but you know what? I enjoyed and thanked God for every moment of it.
I got to hug my family after so long. I met my new niece for the first time.
I got to meet up with a few friends (those who I didn’t get to meet…we shall soon IJN)

This trip did something that I was in badly need of…rest

Sitting back and laughing at childhood memories as I ate the yummy meals my mum made was amongst the best feelings in the world.

Spending time with all my girlfriends helped me to relax on so many levels I didn’t know I needed.

Having my mum pray for me and my journey in person humbled and gave me so much more peace.

Soon, my time home came to an end. I cried.

Between all the sobs and snot, God reminded me why the trip as important.

He wanted me to:

1. Reset & rest- I was tired my friends… Despite everything going on, He wanted me to enjoy my trip with my family and friends. He wanted me to let go and share in those beautiful moments.

2. Remember- Remember who I am, remember why I started this journey and most importantly remember his GOODNESS.

3. Revived- I took a good beating-mentally, emotionally, and spiritually. Being home helped awaken something that I thought was long gone; my passion and my resilience

I say all of this to remind us that sometimes we need to step back from the busyness of our lives to rest, recover and remember who we are. Don’t let circumstances or people’s opinions make you forget whose you are and what you stand for.

It is important to have time to yourself to rejuvenate and crack on with such passion (and compassion), determination and resilience that nothing and no one can stop you from achieving your goals.

 We need time to rest.

We need time to remember who we are.

So, my question to you is, what do you do to RRR?

Just Start!

I laid in bed having no zeal to start gym. (Yes it is difficult!) Kept telling myself that once I feel like it, I would do it.  Yet I didn't get that feeling at all.  So, looking for some inspiration, I watched a TED Talk and the message was definitely something I needed to hear- You're not going to feel like doing it most times, so do it ANYWAY!  Simple, truthful reminder but powerful impact. I looked at how many times I waited for the "right moment" to do something. And reflecting on this made me realize that I was sometimes scared of something.  Fear is something that can keep anyone of us stuck in our comfort zone because we know it's safe and we are familiar with the territory.  That's not always a good thing. Staying in the comfort zone can stunt growth. And when I realised the things that I wanted to try and the possibilities of what can be....I decided to just start. Thinking about developing a new skill?- JUST START Want to open a new business?- JUST...

A Pick Me Up

Do you have a pick me up? You know, something you can read on the days when you feel like you want to stay in bed forever because, honestly, things can get overwhelming. Life can become a bit too much.  And to help myself feel better, I tend to turn to my comfort food (ice cream!) to help with this.  But there are days when food isn't enough... Sometimes negative thoughts consume you and you don't believe you are good enough or deserve good things to happen to you. Sometimes we compare ourselves to others and situations and then come to the conclusion that we are no good.  It can happen anytime and anywhere- workplaces, schools, places of worship and the list goes on.  I've had many of those days. My pillows are can testify to the number of days when I cried myself to sleep or just didn't feel as if I was good enough. I listened to something that should not have been given much thought and it dampens my mood.  But you know what?  It is important to re...

Different Path. Same Goal.

While working in Grenada, there was a program that became available for employees to access sessions with a career coach. I remember sitting in her office as we discussed my current career as well as my goals for the upcoming years.  One of those goals involved going to the US for training, however, there was another opportunity that was offered to us-the option of going to the UK for training instead.  As I reviewed the prospects with my coach, it seemed so easy on paper as we wrote down the pros and cons of moving to either country as well as the career opportunities each offered.  For years I wanted to go to the US for training-did the exams, did my rotations, and attended conferences in my specialty choice to boost my chances. Despite doing what I could have, it just didn't work out when I wanted it to.  But I was determined to keep trying.  This determination however was challenged by my coach when we looked at the pros and cons of each training post...
